The cool morning temperatures, a slight breeze and the bright sunshine provided the perfect backdrop for the chapter’s health and fitness activities at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex in Miami Gardens. The morning started with the 2025 Fit & Fabulous Delta Dash as dozens of walkers and runners joined the chapter for an early morning run/walk hosted by the Physical and Mental Health Committee in partnership with the City of Miami Gardens.
The event kicked off with remarks by Delta Dash Initiative Co-Lead Gayle Love and a warm-up led by Delta Dash Initiative co-lead Vonda Kemp. With the City of Miami Gardens Police Department leading the way, Delta Dash participants were off and running (or walking for those who chose to do so). We are proud to recognize our top-performing runners:
- 5K First Place -- Gregory Bellamy

Immediately following the race/walk, guests were invited to participate in the Passport to Good Health Community Health and Wellness Fair, also hosted by the PMH Committee in partnership with the City of Miami Gardens Councilmembers. More than 170 participants took advantage of a wealth of health and wellness resources provided by more than 30 vendors. Additionally, participants were able to visit mobile trucks representing One Blood and Sylvester Cancer, register for Zumba and line dancing classes and enjoy the tasty offering of Juicedefined and other food truck vendors. In celebration of Black Maternal Health, the committee hosted “Brush & Bond: Painting Stories of Black Motherhood” as one of the special events during health and fitness fair. Participants had a chance to express their creativity while learning about Black maternal health advocacy.
